Docs · Google Business Profile

Connect Google, reply from one dashboard.

Once Google Business Profile is connected, your Google reviews flow into the same inbox as your private feedback. You reply to both from the same screen, with the same AI drafting. The connection takes about five minutes.

What this does

  • Daily sync of every Google review on your Business Profile into the Starvo Inbox.
  • Reply to Google reviews from Starvo — the reply publishes on your actual Google Business Profile. Customers see your reply on Google Maps and Search.
  • AI drafts work on Google reviews too. Same Generate reply button as private feedback.
  • One unified inbox — your Google reviews and private Starvo feedback live in the same list, so nothing gets missed.

Plan requirement

Google Business Profile integration requires the Starter plan or above. On the Free plan, the Connect Google Business Profile button is visible but disabled with an upgrade prompt.

Connecting Google Business Profile

  1. 1. Be on Starter or above

GBP integration requires the Starter plan or above. Free users see a locked button with an upgrade prompt.

  2. 2. Open your dashboard

The Connect Google Business Profile button lives in the "Google reviews" section of your dashboard.

  3. 3. Click Connect

You will be redirected to Google. Sign in to the Google account that manages your Business Profile.

  4. 4. Approve scopes

Google asks you to grant Starvo access to manage your Business Profile, plus basic email/profile info. Click Allow.

  5. 5. Confirm location match

Pick which of your Google locations matches your Starvo location (if you have multiple).

  6. 6. Wait for first sync

Within a few minutes (and at most 24 hours via the daily cron) your existing Google reviews appear in the Starvo inbox.

On Free, the Connect button shows an upgrade prompt instead of starting OAuth. On Starter and above, clicking it sends you to Google's consent screen where you can see exactly which scopes Starvo is asking for before approving.

What we ask Google for

Starvo requests three OAuth scopes during connect:

  • business.manage — read your Google Business Profile data, read reviews, post replies. Required for the integration to work.
  • userinfo.email — read the email address of the Google account you connected with. Used to display which Google account is connected.
  • userinfo.profile — read basic profile info (display name). Used in the dashboard so you remember which Google account is connected.

Starvo does not request: Gmail access, Drive, Calendar, Contacts, Ads, Analytics, or any other Google service. If you see a prompt asking for any of those, decline — that is not us.

OAuth tokens are stored in our database behind strict row-level security and column-level access controls. The token columns are readable only by Starvo's server — not by your staff or managers, and not through the database API. We use the refresh token to keep the connection alive without asking you to re-authorize every week.

How sync works

  • Initial sync runs immediately after connect. Existing reviews populate your dashboard within a few minutes.
  • Daily sync runs at 08:00 UTC. New Google reviews land in your dashboard within 24 hours of being posted.
  • Manual re-sync: from the Google reviews section of your dashboard, click Refresh. Pulls any reviews since the last sync.
  • Edits and deletions on Google reflect on the next sync. If a customer edits their review on Google, the new text appears in Starvo within 24 hours.

Synced Google reviews look the same as private feedback in the Inbox, with a small Google badge so you know where the reply will publish.

Replying to Google reviews

Replies you send from Starvo publish on your real Google Business Profile within seconds. Customers see your reply on Google Maps and on Search the same way they would if you had replied from Google directly.

The reply flow is identical to private feedback: open the review, click Generate reply for an AI draft, edit if needed, click Reply on Google.

Editing or deleting a Google reply: currently has to be done in Google (not in Starvo). The Google API supports it but the UX is not yet built into Starvo — on the roadmap.

Troubleshooting

The Connect button is disabled

You are on the Free plan. GBP integration starts at Starter. Upgrade from Dashboard → Billing and the button will activate immediately.

Connect fails with “No locations found”

You signed in with a Google account that doesn't own or manage any Business Profiles. Two fixes:

  • Sign in with the Google account that actually owns your Business Profile.
  • If your Business Profile is owned by a colleague, ask them to transfer ownership or grant you Manager access in Google's Business Profile manager.

Reviews aren't syncing

Three usual causes:

  • The connection expired. Google occasionally invalidates refresh tokens (e.g. password change). Disconnect and reconnect.
  • The Business Profile is unverified or suspended. Check status in Google's Business Profile manager.
  • The daily cron didn't run. Use the manual Refresh button in the Google reviews section of your dashboard to pull immediately.

Reply on Google fails

Usually because the Google review was deleted by the reviewer between your reply attempt and the API call. Refresh the Inbox; the deleted review will be gone.

I see a review on Google but not in Starvo

Wait up to 24 hours for the daily sync, or hit Refresh. If a specific review never appears, email support@starvo.app with the Google review URL and we'll inspect.

Compliance: Starvo never deletes Google reviews on your behalf, never posts replies without explicit owner action, and never modifies your Business Profile beyond what is needed to reply to a review. Modifying business hours, photos, or other profile fields is outside Starvo's scope.

Disconnecting

To remove Google Business Profile from Starvo: open the Google reviews section of your dashboard and click Disconnect. The OAuth tokens are deleted immediately from our database. The next daily sync will not run for this location.

You can also revoke Starvo's access entirely from myaccount.google.com/permissions — find Starvo in the list and click Remove access. Use this if you no longer have dashboard access (e.g. closed your Starvo account).

FAQ

Do I need a Google Business Profile to use Starvo?
You need one to receive public Google reviews from customers — that is how Google works, not specific to Starvo. If you don’t have one yet, create it for free at business.google.com. Starvo works without it but you won’t be able to direct customers anywhere to leave a public review.
How do I connect my Google Business Profile?
On Starter, Pro, and Pro Max plans, open your dashboard and find the "Google reviews" section, then click Connect Google Business Profile. You sign in with the Google account that owns your business listing and grant Starvo access to read reviews and post replies. Disconnect anytime. The Free plan does not include the Google integration.
Can I reply to my Google reviews from Starvo?
Yes, on Starter and above. Once your Google Business Profile is connected, Starvo syncs your Google reviews every day and lets you reply (with or without AI assistance) directly from the dashboard. Replies post to Google in real time.
Does Starvo show my new Google reviews?
Yes. On Starter and above, once your Google Business Profile is connected, Starvo syncs your Google reviews into the dashboard every day so new public reviews appear alongside your private feedback — and you can reply to them from the same screen.
